Taking a look at taverns and their maidens
Back in the day, a tavern was a place where locals would go to get a good meal and kick back a couple of beers. A tavern was also a play where weary travelers would come to spend the night and catch up on some sleep, kind of like an inn or a lodge of some sort.
These little establishments grew in popularity and became more of the former meaning rather than the latter, especially when tavern maidens came into the picture. What man on earth wouldn’t want a lovely little lass serving him food and bringing him beer and ale after all?
The Tavern Maiden Costume
Even without the beer, you are sure to be a true head turner dressed in this pirate wench costume. The top of this ankle length dress is corset inspired. It is a white ruffled off shoulder with a thin strapped brown vest over it that you lace up. This too shall accentuate your curves in all the right places. The skirt is made of two layers. The top layer only comes down to the knee area and is a rich olive green- just what you need to add a splash of color to the whole look. The bottom layer goes all the way down to your ankles. It is striped in two tones of brown, one dark and one light. Tie the entire ensemble together with the thick dark brown belt that showcases a gold buckle. Slip on a pair of boots, and if you want, carry around a beer stein for added props.
Although this look, unlike many, is not thigh high and does not give you chance to show off your legs, men will still be drawn to you. Remember that it is always good to leave something to the imagination. Covering up your legs will only keep guys wanting you even more.
