A Pirate’s Life
Pirates started to come out in the 17th and 18th centuries. These seafarers had a pretty good life scavenging the ocean for months at a time. Although you may imagine that they were having a hard time to the point of being like some sort of slaves to the sea, you could not have been more wrong. Life on board was actually lenient. Many crew members actually lived with the same luxuries as the captain. They had good food and good booze.
The duties of the crew members are not really any different from those of regular sea men and sailors. This basically revolved around ship maintenance and repair. Some pirates worked in the hull, others scrubbed the deck, while others even patched up the sail.
For fun, they would drink bottles of rum and play cards, roll dice, sing, dance, and even carve. Gambling, however, was forbidden and it was believed that it would just lead to problems.
